Title 24 Consultant

Things you should know before hiring a Title 24 Consultant

Just because you find a website where you can get a Title 24 report for cheap doesn’t mean you’re getting a good deal. Here are some things to keep in mind when searching for a consultant:

First, you should make sure that any Title 24 service provider that you hire is very familiar with the current Title 24 standards, which were made effective on July 1st, 2014. There are a number of factors that go into your calculations, and achieving compliance can sometimes lead to an increase in construction cost. Make sure the company isn’t making unnecessary recommendations.

Second, remember that any errors or inaccuracies in your calculations could result in the city providing you with corrections. This can delay you building permit and your project. Even if you are dealing with your Title 24 online and don’t have to drop by an office, you don’t want to have to deal with the back and forth game.  Making sure your Title 24 consultant is accurate and knowledgeable can prevent this.

Third, the consultant should be fast and responsive to your questions or concerns. Whether you’re asking “What is Title 24?” or you have corrections to the plans, the company should be available to speak to you and address any questions or concerns that you may have about the energy compliance reports.

Fourth, while a registered engineer doesn’t have to author your Title 24, it adds credibility and often accuracy to your report when you do have one on board.
